フィドル、マンドリンなどで一度は弾いてみた曲の備忘録として始めてみました。ここに登場する曲は確かに何度か練習した曲ではあるけど、備忘録としている通り、今でもよく弾く曲から忘却の彼方にある曲まで混載なのでセッションで「テメエ、ブログに書いてたのに弾けないのかよ！」というツッコミは却下でございますよ(笑)

Kevin Burke の教則本が覚えるきっかけとなった曲。結構付き合いが長い割に一向に様にならない困ったリールのひとつ。上記のセットにもある通りで、The Pigeon On The Gate かThe Humours of Castlefin の後ろにくっつけて弾くため、この曲をどこかで中抜きされてしまうと非常に困ってしまうのも難点。

多分、最初に覚えたDouble Jig。Matt Cranitch の教則本でもDouble Jig 編の最初に出てくるし、Kevin Burke の教則ビデオ(DVD)でも、「典型的な音使いがある曲」として紹介されている。
某氏の影響でBlarney Pilgrim の後ろに配することがほとんどな私だが、最近自ら出すことはほとんどなくなった曲のひとつ。多国籍セッションのときの様子見ではよく使うけど・・・。Warrior でも忘れた頃に出ますね。

セッションで最初に聴いたのは多分Warrior Celtだと思う。曲名が分からないままいつだったかのGreen SheepのセッションでS野さんが出したときに曲名を教えてもらって調べてみたらChieftainsがやっていたというポルカ。Warrior でもSaint Mary's/Church Streetで出るのが定番。
TRAD夫妻はBallyfin Polka #3 で弾いていますね。

多分、Fiddle を習い始めて最初に覚えたHornpipe。Matt Cranitchの教則本を使ってましたからね。後になってKevin Burkeの教則本などでも聴いたけど、案外収録されている作品が手許にないねぇ・・・。
Kevin Burkeの教則本に倣ってKitty's Wedding からつないでみたり、前につけても後ろにつけても変なことになりにくい便利な曲だと思います。なぜかLaird Of Drumblair につなぎたくなる変人ですが・・・。
因みに、３度(F#)・６度(B)を半音下げて引くと日本の音頭に変化します。こんな馬鹿げた遊びを私に教えたのは・・・、フィドルの師匠でした。三味線のイメージでピチカートで弾くと一発芸としてはなかなか受けます。
